520 _aPlastics are one of the biggest contributors to the growing garbage problems and environmental concerns worldwide and are simply used in almost everything, from foods and beverages to gadgets and even construction materials. The use of plastics in various places as packing materials and products such as bottles, containers and packing strips are increasing day by day. The proponents chose to do the study entitled, ?An Investigative Study on Concrete Hollow Blocks With Plastic Bottle Reinforcement?, for the reason that the plastic bottles can probably increase the strength of concrete hollow block when used as reinforcement and also to reduce the problem in the disposal of the waste plastics. This study aims to compare the strength of plastic bottle reinforced concrete hollow blocks and concrete hollow blocks without plastic bottle reinforcement. Three molds were constructed and were used in the production of the concrete hollow blocks used in the research. The researchers used experimental type of research. All samples were tested in the CIT University (Mechanical Engineering Laboratory) using the Universal Testing Machine in order to obtain the compressive strength of the CHB. Therefore, based on the results collected there was no significant difference on the strength of the hollow block reinforced with plastic bottle and the hollow block without plastic bottles. Though the results were just quite the same, considering that the usage of plastic bottles as reinforcement for the hollow blocks could be a good way in recycling plastic bottles. The researchers recommended that more samples should be obtained and tested for more reliable results. The researchers also recommended the testing of another brand or different diameter of plastic bottle to be used and that has a more rigid character than the plastic bottle being used in this experiment.
