"The behavior of individuals acting as members of formal organizations has a tremendous impact on many aspects of our lives. The food we eat, the cars we drive, the houses we live in all depend on the coordinated effort of individuals in organizations. This impact, in fact, is so pervasive that we often take it for granted. Typically, we only take notice when the results are at the extremes.
