Description: 32 leaves ; 28 cmContent type: text Media type: unmediated Carrier type: volumeSubject(s): Emotional intelligenceDDC classification: 152.4 Dissertation note: A Research Presented to Cebu Institute of Technology - University, March 2005. Summary: Since the opening of Psychology as a major course in the College of Arts and Sciences, there hasn?t been any file manifesting that a study was conducted for their benefit. With the onset of the envisioned advancement of the growing college, the researcher has cultivated the idea of creating a profile of all the Psychology Majors. The emergence of the so called 21st century learning made the researcher become more interested in identifying the Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ) of the students knowing that Intelligence Quotient alone does not make a person smart. Peter Salovey sees Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ) as one?s ability to monitor one?s feelings in various ways. Likewise, Costa (1991) in his study identified characteristics of highly functioning people as a combination of interpersonal and intrapersonal skills which when properly identified is called one?s Emotional Literacy. Studies have shown that people who are said to be emotionally literate are more successful at work, happier in general and they enjoy a sense of efficacy in managing their own lives. Having those facts presented can really attest the importance of EQ. Yet, identifying EQ is still a novelty to the field and there have been limited studies conducted specializing on the topic. However, because of its identified importance, the researcher made a bold move to conduct a study which identifies the Emotional Intelligence level of CIT Psychology Majors in school year 2004 ? 2005.
