An Investigative study on the applicability of rice husk ash as an additive for a fire resistant cement board

By: Montana, Martin Louise B
Publisher: Cebu City ; CIT-U ; 2014DDC classification: T M7621 2014 Summary: The use of by products as a substitute in enhancing the quality and workability of the materials has been one of the newest research studies which contributes to the preservation of the natural resources against pollution. Rice hush ash is one of these by products which has a potential in creating new material. It is said to have a good insulating properties which led us to do the study about its applicability as an additive for a fire resistant board. This study will focus on the creation of cement board samples with different rice husk ash mixtures. The fire test was performed on these samples to determine the rate of heat of absorption and the effects of the sudden change of temperature of the cement board. Since this is an experimental research, the output of this study was based on the results obtained from the performed experiments. The researchers concluded that the rice husk ash is applicable as an additive for a fireproof cement board because of its slow rate of heat absorption. The more RHA the cement board contained, the longer it can resist fire but this causes the cement board to be more brittle.
