CONTENT ANALYSIS<br/>Objectives and Scope<br/> The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of implementation of measures pertaining to the operations of Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) and the development needs of the institution in the areas identified by PACUCOA in order to design a Ten-Year Development Plan for the school.<br/> The following sub-problems definitely set the direction for this study as its guidelines:<br/>1. What is the quality of implementation of measures pertaining to the academic operations of Cebu Institute of Technology in the following areas:<br/>1.1. Purposes and Objectives ;<br/>1.2. Faculty;<br/>1.3. Instruction;<br/>1.4. Library;<br/>1.5. Laboratories;<br/>1.6. Physical plant and Facilities;<br/>1.7. Student Personnel Services;<br/>1.8. Social Orientation and Community Development; and<br/>1.9. Organization and Administration?<br/>2. To what extent is development needed in the aforementioned areas of operations?<br/>3. Is there a significant variance in the quality of implementation of measures in the different areas of operations of Cebu Institute of Technology?<br/>4. Is there a significant variance in the extent of development needs of Cebu Institute of Technology in the different areas of operations?<br/>5. Based on the findings of the study, how may a Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan be designed for Cebu Institute of Technology?<br/><br/>The following null hypotheses were advanced for testing by means of the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 0.05 level of significance:<br/>1. There is no significant variance in the quality of implementation of measures in the different areas of operations of Cebu Institute of Technology.<br/>2. There is no significant variance in the extent of development needs of the different areas of operations of Cebu Institute of Technology.<br/><br/>This study utilized the descriptive-survey method of research. The questionnaire was used as the main instrument of data collection. As the need arose, the researcher used the interview as a technique of deriving additional information and verifying the responses given by the respondents of the study. The respondents were the administrators, the full-time college faculty, and the students. The administrators and the full-time college faculty answered questions pertaining to the implementation of measures and development needs of the areas of Purposes and Objectives, Faculty, Instruction, Library, Laboratories, Physical Plant and Facilities, Student Personnel Services, Social Orientation and Community Involvement, and Organization and Administration. The students answered questions only about the areas of school operations with which they were familiar such as Purposes and Objectives, Instruction, Library, Laboratories, and Student Personnel Services. For the purpose of determining the variance in the implementation of measures and the development needs of the areas of school operations, the researcher used the Two-Way Analysis of Variance.<br/>Findings<br/> The following are the findings of the study:<br/>1. The quality of implementation of measures pertaining to the academic operations of Cebu Institute of Technology was rated as follows:<br/>1.1. Purposes and Objectives were viewed as Very Good by the administrators, the faculty and the students;<br/>1.2. Faculty was regarded as Very Good by the administrators and the faculty;<br/>1.3. Instruction was rated Very Good by the administrators, the faculty, and the students;<br/>1.4. Library was adjudged as Very Good by the administrators, the faculty, and the students;<br/>1.5. Laboratories were viewed as Good by the administrators, the faculty, and the students;<br/>1.6. Physical Plant and Facilities were regarded as Very Good by the administrators and the faculty;<br/>1.7. Student Personnel Services were assessed as Very Good by the administrators and the faculty;<br/>1.8. Social Orientation and Community Development were rated Good by the administrators and the faculty; and<br/>1.9. Organization and Administration were regarded as Very Good by the administrators and the faculty.<br/><br/>2. The extent to which development was needed in the different areas of Cebu Institute of Technology was viewed as follows:<br/>2.1. In the area of Purpose and Objectives, development was Often Needed, as viewed by the administrators, the faculty and the students.<br/>2.2. In the area of Faculty, the administrators viewed development as Often Needed, while the faculty viewed it as Always Needed.<br/>2.3. In the area of Instruction, development was viewed by the administrators as Often Needed and by the faculty and the students as Always Needed<br/>2.4. In the area of Library, development was viewed by the administrators as Often Needed, by the faculty as Always Needed, and by the students as Often Needed<br/>2.5. In the area of Laboratories, development was Always Needed, as viewed by the administrators, the faculty and the students.<br/>2.6. In the area of Physical Plant and Facilities, development was viewed by the administrators as Often Needed and by the faculty as Always Needed.<br/>2.7. In the area of Student Personnel Services, development was adjudged by the administrators as Often Needed, by the faculty as Always Needed, and by the students as Often Needed.<br/>2.8. In the area of Social Orientation and Community Involvement, development was viewed by the administrators as Often Needed and by the faculty as Always Needed.<br/>2.9. In the area of Organization and Administration, development was Often Needed, as adjudged by the administrators and the faculty.<br/>3. There was no significant variance in the quality of implementation of measures in the different areas of operations of Cebu Institute of Technology.<br/>4. There was a significant variance in the extent of development needs of Cebu Institute of Technology in the different areas of operation.<br/>5. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher designs a Ten-Year Development Plan for CIT which should be subjected to discussion, criticism, and possible modification before actual implementation.<br/>Conclusion<br/> Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concludes that while the areas of operation of CIT implemented measures extensively and were functioning very well the institution?s being dynamic, growth-oriented, and inclined to global competitiveness gave rise to the emergence of development needs that were concomitant to an institution of higher learning with a wholesome attitude toward change.<br/>Recommendations<br/> In the light of the findings of this study, the researcher recommends:<br/>1. That after discussion, conducting a critique, and conducting brainstorming sessions on the proposed Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan, CIT implement the measures proposed in the plan.<br/>2. That the administration of CIT allocates adequate funds for the implementation of measures proposed in the Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan.<br/>3. That the administration of CIT enjoins the various academic departments of the school to formulate their operational plans based on the Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan presented in this study.<br/>4. That the faculty and the students be represented in the deliberations on the development of the institution.<br/>5. That institutional development be concentrated on the areas which have only been moderately implemented such as in Laboratories and Social Orientation and Community Involvemen<br/><br/>Further recommendations<br/> Studies which future researchers may conduct are recommended in this research. They are the following:<br/>1. The Content, Scope, and Techniques of Student Development Programs in CIT: Proposals for Modification. <br/>2. Global Competitiveness, Diversity Direction, and Competence Recognition in the Management of Human Resources in CIT: Initiatives for Change.<br/>3. Community Consciousness, Research Excellence, and Instructional Skills among the College Faculty of CIT: Bases for Development Agenda. |
