Summary, etc |
An Improvement of the Drainage Canal in SitioTugas, Brgy.Inayawan was proposed in this study. It gives importance to the community and environment which provides an effective flood-control drainage system. Descriptive survey was used and experimental method was done by the researchers to gather data. A questionnaire was made as an instrument in assessing the community?s response to the improvement of the drainage canal.
The main purpose of the study is to design the safest, most efficient and economical drainage canal with respect to the parameters obtained such as volume of wastewater and stormwater that passes into the canal.
Based on the results, the main contributors of stormwater of the drainage canal were Sitio Upper Villa Kawayan, D?who, Issa, Ondras, San Agustin, La Familia, St. Jude Acres 1,2,3 and 4, J. Tabura and SitioTugas. These areas were considered the catchment area of the drainage canal in SitioTugas. The average wastewater discharge and present profile of the drainage was determined through field surveys. After analyzing the results, the trapezoidal concrete drainage connected at the end of the undeveloped drainage canal was proven to be inadequate in conveying the stormwater from the catchment area. Backflow and overflow of stormwater causes flooding in affected areas of SitioTugas. These results were very alarming and that proper flood control management and unbiased evaluation should be imposed.
After gathering the results, a proposed improvement of the drainage canal was designed, specifically a Rubble Masonry-Gravity wall revetment as lining and flood control structure of the drainage canal. This design was provided by the DPWH and was perceived by the researchers to be applicable in the said undeveloped drainage. |
