Summary, etc |
Soil erosion had become one of the apparent problems in slopes along roads along roads. Due to the forces of water, soils in these areas are greatly degraded and are deposited in drainage and/or sometimes block the road. This leads to the hypothesis that if the water velocity decreased and the vegetation of the area is supported, the soil erosion can be minimized. This prompted the researchers to undertake a study on "A proposed Soil Stabilization and Erosion Control using Fiber Rolls and Waste Bottle Cases in Barangay sapangdaku Cebu City." The paper proposed soil erosion device, made from fiber rolls and junk bottle cases, that could minimized if not o stop the erosion of soil in slope causing the clogging of water ways and its deterioration. A specific site in Barangay Sapangdaku was chosen for the installation of the erosion device where the experimentation was conducted. For the first week, 2 kg of eroded soil was collected and the following weeks the volume of eroded soil had decreased continuously up to the tenth week of observation where 0 kg of soil was recorded. This is because of the increasing vegetation in the area after the installation of the junk bottle cases and the fiber rolls. Thus, the soil erosion device implemented proved to support the re-vegetation and minimized the erosion of soil in the area. |
