This study offers a detailed analysis f factors affecting fire officers' job performance. Using a quantitative research methods with a descriptive survey approach, it examined the experiences of fire officers across six barangays in Cebu City. Key motivational factors identified include maintaining physical and emotional well-being, effective leadership, and a supportive work environment. Conversely, significant obstacles such as inadequate job facilities (61.29 % of respondents), unethical actions by superiors (48.39%), and internal corruption (32.26 %) severely hinder job performance.
The demographic analysis revealed a predominance of male officers, with a slightly hinger percentage in the South District. Most respondents were married, indicating potential family responsibilities impacting their work. The North District had a higher distribution of senior-ranking officers, and many fire officers in both districts had 10-19 years of service, showing substantial experience.
In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of physical and emotional well-being, effective leadership, and a supportive work environment as key motivators. Addressing obstacles such as inadequate job facilities, unethical conduct, and corruption is crucial for improving job satisfaction, morale, and overall effectiveness, leading to better service delivery and community safety. This underscores the need for targeted interventions to support and empower fire officers in their demanding roles.
