Cases of HIV/AIDS have been rampant all over the globe, with almost 37 million individuals being infected. With the advancement of medications, the development of entiretroviral therapy gives them new hope in life. With this, the researchers have decided to study the posttraumatic growth and quality of life among metropolitan Cebuanos living with HIV/AIDS.
This study aims to measure the levels of the domains of posttraumatic growth and quality of life, and the relationship between the two constructs. A total of fifty-three respondents were given two questionnaire surveys: the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory and the World Health Organization's Quality of Life for HIV, Brief Version. The researchers were able to determine the levels of the variable's domains using the mean scores of each domain. The Pearson R Correlation was used to assess the relationship between the two variables. The results and calculations indicate that there is a significant moderate positive relationship between posttraumatic growth and quality of life. This means that the higher the level of posttraumatic growth, the higher the quality of Life, and vice-versa. In conclusion, the respondents experienced positive life changes, resulting in high evaluations of posttraumatic growth and quality of life.
The researchers recommend that future studies can explore and consider other factors such as socio-economic status and respondents' personality when conducting a study.
