The article presents an interview with Christopher Cox, the chairman of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), a post he assumed in 2005. In the interview Cox discusses a number of subjects of interest to accounting or financial service professionals, including SEC proposals to change implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the impact of Sarbanes-Oxley on American competitiveness in the global marketplace and the increasing complexity of financial reporting required by the U.S. government.
